Queen & Crawford fabricated a timber-based wall structure for Harminder Judge’s exhibition In This Strange House. Designed to evoke the set of an American horror film, the work needed to appear distressed and theatrical, looming over the viewer.
Salvaged timber was selected for its aged, weathered and neglected appearance then treated with multiple layers of paint, glue and lacquer to give the exaggerated sense of theatre. The timbers were then joined into a 4 x 7.5m structure, lap-clad and purposefully ill-aligned. Shapes protruded from the wall to heighten the feel of horror.
The piece was installed in the gallery in one day from four pre-made sections.
